G(irls)20 Conference - Paris 2011

An annual conference discussing the plight of females across the world

');

Freelance journalist Becky Jacobs contacted me in 2011 to request my services in recording a conference in Paris organised by the Girls20 movement.

The conference debated the different opportunities open to girls and women around the world, and the experiences they have had trying to make a mark on their society.

The panel, made up of 21 young girls from around the world, were selected based on their achievements in trying to improve society for women in various ways.

'Either girls or wives' was the topic of one debate, sponsored by the Nike Foundation, in which five of the panellists spoke about their experiences growing up. This was the debate that Becky was working on, on behalf of a radio station in Rwanda which was to launch the week after the conference, giving practical help and advice using the power of broadcast to female communities in the region.
